Maya Cederlund is a fourth-year journalism student at American University in Washington, D.C. She's currently a fellow at the Investigative Reporting Workshop and the American University Eagle's DEI and Community Engagement Editor. She's also co-president of AU's inaugural Asian American Journalists Association chapter.
Maya worked as a production intern for London-based podcast production house Rethink Audio and as a reporting intern for the Colorado Times Recorder, a political watchdog paper.
A Chinese transracial adoptee, Maya is interested in investigative journalism, amplifying marginalized voices and reporting on race and ethnicity.
Maya's work has appeared in NBC Asian America, Science Magazine and The Eagle. She is a 2025 White House Correspondents’ Association scholar. Outside of journalism, she likes to boulder, hike, bake and spend time with her family dog.
